Brigadier was an 8 year old 16.1 hand prize winning Belgian cross Toronto Police
Services horse deliberately ran down on February 24 2006. He died in the line of duty a hero.
There are no laws in the Canadian Criminal code protecting law enforcement animals.

P.C. Kevin Bradfield was riding Brig when he was run down by a mini van. P.C.
Bradfield sustained, broken ribs as well as neck and leg injuries.
Nicknamed the, 'gentle giant' Brig's riders said,
"he would do anything asked of him."
On April 12 2006 Mr Michael O'Sullivan, Chairman and CEO of the Humane Society
of Canada, presented an 'Animal Heroes Award' to Brigadier.
