"Clarence"
Stray
Showed up in January 1993
Died on September 15 2001 of Cancer at the age of 16

'Clarence' was a gentle 26 lbs cat who kept all the cats on the farm in line with love, patience, and a mighty paw. He allowed any cat to come and have a meal as long as they did not cause any trouble. All the cats looked up to him. Clarence was a stray the neighbours chased away with brooms and rocks. He ended up being a diabetic on two needles a day and never complained about the shots. He was named after Clarence the cross-eyed lion. His coat was so thick he was shaved every spring. He is buried on the farm by a fence where he loved to sit and soak up the morning sun.

"Mindy”
Tabby Siamese
Died of kidney complications.
June 1977 - February 1996 - age 19.

Mindy was a tiny tabby Siamese with no sense of humor and affectionate on her terms only. Still she was the baby and spent hours upon hours watching westerns and war movies just to be close to Brenda. Mindy was bought by Wayne from a pet store in Victoria when she was a kitten and Wayne was in military college (RRMC). We brought Mindy back to Ontario after Wayne felt  he spent too much time at school and not enough time at home with her. We drove back to Ontario with Mindy in the car. It was not long before she chose Brenda as her Mum. Mindy never thought she was a cat and thought nothing of going to bed with her head on the pillow with a blanket up to her neck. Mindy was cremated and her ashes are in the house. The bond between Brenda and Mindy was so strong that it is Brenda's wish that Mindy be buried with her.

“Christian”
White
Rescue Cat.
Diabetic on two Needles a Day.
Died in February 2002 at the age of 12 of complications from Diabetes.

Christian was rescued along with Patches from a farm in Concecon who neglected their cats. A farm that was taken to court twice for horse neglect and found responsible once. When Christian was rescued, he was taken straight to a vet and not expected to live. He was infested with fleas, worms, and severely malnourished. His heart and pure determination pulled him through his medical illnesses yet despite his large size, his health was never strong. This neglected kitten craved human contact and approval and with love became the most intelligent and pleasant cat we have ever owned. After Mindy’s death, Christian became so close to Brenda that he suffered severe separation anxiety whenever she left the house. He was found early one morning in a diabetic coma. We rushed him to a vet on call who was incompetent and apathetic. By the time we had him at our own vet (Dr Jay Black) it was too late. He was laid to rest in our growing pet cemetery.

Died of Cancer

Justin was a no nonsense fantastic horse. He was a Cadillac ride and the leader of the pack. He was the most well trained horse we had ever rode. Though he was a powerful horse, he was never anything but a true gentleman. He loved is stall, mares, and the fields. He spent much of his time in 'Justin's Corner' watching the river. Though, Dr Janine (Handforth) tried desperately to save him it wasn't meant to be. He was laid to rest under his favorite tree. His stall remains empty with a cross hanging from his nameplate. We miss him dearly.

"Sabbath"
Neighbour's Cat
Showed up in the Spring of 1995
Died December 23 2004 of Kidney Failure at the age of 12

Sabbath was a neighbour's cat who would rather live in our barn than go home. We would leave his food and water on an old boat in our hayloft, as he trusted no one. It was six months before he would let us touch him. After he was diagnosed with a severe blood disorder Sabbath was quickly made a house cat where he lived on our computer monitor. He was Sarah's best friend and she could not bear to touch the computer after he died. Now a picture of him is taped to the computer tower. He is buried in our cat cemetery along with Clarence.

"Romeo"
Cob
A retired Dorset Police Horse (UK).
Bay
15.2 Hands High

Romeo was owned by Wayne Turnbull when he was an officer in the RAF. He was a well-trained and mellow horse. Stabled at Broadwindsor stables Romeo was a sweet and pleasing horse who spent endless hours of hacking through the Dorset hills on lazy weekends with Wayne. When Wayne left, England bringing Romeo to Canada was not an option. After years of beating the pavement with Dorset’s finest Wayne felt, he deserved a quiet retirement. He gave Romeo to a private stable where he lived out the rest of his life grazing on England’s rolling green hills.
